Director's Notes

There is always a level of anxiety when picking a show. A director wants to pick something that the students will enjoy. They want to choose something that will challenge good actors and designers. They want to sell tickets!!! And I had the added anxiety of picking a show that would be my Fall Show directorial debut at Lake Central. Amazingly, it only took a letter in the mail and a click of the mouse for me to know that “The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood” was going to be the THE show!

Everyone knows the classic tale of Robin Hood. He falls in love with Maid Marion and has to win her hand in marriage during an archery tournament created by the evil Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham who have stolen the kingdom from King Richard. This play takes that classic tale and puts a spin on it with zany characters, outlandish dialogue, a short stage fight, a bowling tournament, and Christmas music by Justin Bieber!

The cast and crew have laughed their way through rehearsals for weeks! This show is fun and I look forward to sharing this play's talent with the community!
