Good evening,
Welcome to the ReACT at NOC's NC-17 rated production of Dog Sees God; Confession of a Teenage Blockhead.
The Rating is for strong adult content and vulgar language. Why with so many shows out there why would we pick a show that warrants a rating such as NC-17? Because this story no matter how uncomfortable it makes us must be performed. We need to have the types of conversations that follow a show like this one.
My daughter Kara just graduated high school and she said this production is a realistic portrayal of today's teenagers and the types of things they have to deal with on a daily basis. I know the language will be offensive to some but please stay with us because the story warrants your attention. I believe that an authors work should be performed unedited and that is what we are performing here tonight. Should you find the content to be outraging even after the NC-17 warnings and the amazing story you are about to witness then I will apologize...for nothing. Good grief we warned you!
This cast has put-in-the-work needed to elevate this production to match the level of creativity by the author Bert V. Royals. The Peanuts gang as teenagers? Why not?! While Edward Dixon is the main character who hardly ever gets a break from the lights I would not call him the star of the show. I'm sure he would agree that this group of individual actors have come together right here and now to form a company. An ensemble in the truest sense of the word.
What a thrill it has been for me to have my wife of 21 years stage manage and my daughter (she is amazing and will be attending NOC this Fall as a Roustabout! Can I get a WOOT WOOT?!) who has been by my side building/painting this set, adjusting lights and programming the light board. We are an American Theatre Family.
This project has been extremely rewarding and on behalf of the cast and crew I thank you for attending tonight's performance.
