Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express - November 05 - November 07, 2025

Arbor View High School

 Audience Etiquette

Please take a moment to read the following:

  • No Admittance During Performance—We are asking that nobody enter the theatre performance area during a performance, as it is distracting to the performers as well as the audience. So please be prompt and do not enter the area during a performance. Tardy patrons may enter during a break in the performance with an usher. Doors will open a half hour before the performance. Please plan on staying seated throughout a performance, as people leaving during a performance is dangerous and distracting to the performers. Performers may be using the aisle during performances, and late entrances may cause disturbances for the actors/technicians.

  • Food and Drink—There will be NO food or drink permitted in the theatre at any time. No exceptions.

  • Audience Behavior—We have worked very hard with our students to make them aware of appropriate audience participation and behavior. We stress the different behaviors appropriate for a sports arena, rock concert, movie theatre, and live performances of different types. We ask them to show respect for the performers by demonstrating attention and active listening, which includes not talking with their neighbor during a performance, sitting in their seats properly, refraining from yelling or using “cat calls” to get someone’s attention, or laughing at inappropriate times. We would appreciate your support of our audience behavior education program by modeling these same traits for your students.

  • Videotaping and Photography—This production is copyrighted. By law, the Videotaping of this production is not permitted. Please, NO Flash photography. It is distracting to the actors and may result in an accident.

  • Use of Cellphones—Please turn off all noise-making devices during a performance. We have had complaints from parents and guests who have been sitting around people who have carried on a conversation during a performance. We also have many wireless microphones, and the potential for interference from these electronic devices is a concern for our sound crew. Please be respectful of those around you.

  • Special EFX—The use of strobe, lighting effects, and fog machine may be used in this production. People who are sensitive to them should please notify an usher or house manager to alert them when these effects are being used and may need to step out during these effects. AVHS is not responsible for any medical issues that may arise if not alerted before the beginning of the show.

Thank you for assisting us in providing an exceptional performance experience for your students by creating an optimal performance environment. Once again, let us thank you for supporting our performing arts program.
