Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a joyful, high-energy musical with a powerful heart at its center. At its core, this show is about dreaming big, staying hopeful in hard times, and never giving up—even when the odds are against you. I saw the show for the very first time as a 16-year-old in a theatre class at Permian High School. The wonder and joy it brought to me has lived with me ever since, and I am thrilled to have brought it to life for our community.
Joseph’s journey from being cast out by his brothers to rising up as a leader in Egypt is a story about perseverance. He holds on to his dreams, even when everything seems lost. Along the way, he faces betrayal, injustice, and deep loneliness—but he never stops believing in himself and something greater ahead.
That message speaks deeply to Basin Theatre Works. Like Joseph, we’re a group of people working through limited resources, tight timelines, and unexpected challenges. But through teamwork, heart, and a shared dream, we create something bigger than any one of us. Every rehearsal, every costume piece, every prop reminds us: even when the path is tough, the journey is worth it. Basin Theatre Works is on a journey to show our community what is possible, and Joseph and all of our summer programming were a step along that path.
This production is a celebration of hope, resilience, and the idea that with faith and hard work, dreams really can come true. We hope you leave with a smile on your face and a little more belief in what’s possible.
