A New Chapter
The BVM Theater Program
This production marks a historic milestone for BVM: our expansion from premium music education into full-scale musical theater. Spearheaded by Executive Director Mark Mandeville and Musical Theater Program Director Tobias Duke, the launch of a dedicated theater program introduces a completely new level of creative collaboration to our studio, bringing the raw energy and passion of mainstage theater to our local performing arts scene.
What began as conceptual planning sessions back in January has blossomed into a fully realized debut production. Choosing Jonathan Larson’s groundbreaking rock musical, RENT: School Edition, was an ambitious step—a show that demands vocal power, raw vulnerability, and absolute commitment to the ensemble. Rehearsing out of our downtown Uxbridge studio, a passionate ensemble of the region's finest young performers rose to that challenge, building a tight-knit artistic community through sheer grit and heart.
As Mark Mandeville shared, BVM's mission has always been rooted in shared expression and grassroots support. Watching these young actors step onto the stage—transitioning from learning lines and choreography in our studio to delivering an unforgettable, high-energy performance tonight—is the realization of a months-long dream.
Whether in the private lesson room, at Rock Band Camp, or under the stage lights for RENT: School Edition, BVM remains committed to providing a warm, friendly, and high-quality environment where students of all ages can discover their creative voices, make new friends, and shine.
Thank you for supporting our cast/crew, their families, our BVM volunteers, and everyone else who contributed to this milestone moment with us tonight!
