Branford High School Performing Arts

 Director's Message

Mike Martone Jr.'s

Personal Thank You's

To Colin, as we continue our directorial journey here in Branford, I want to thank you for always being willing to push our students to be independent actors and encouraging them to take risks on stage. I am so proud of the theatrical community. We continue to grow and provide a safe place for young performers to thrive! There is no place I would rather be than in

“our church” the theater.

To Paola, our choreographer and constant positive influence for our students. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into the show! I appreciate your ability to take a group with very little dance experience and create full dance breaks, including thirteen tapping seagulls! Thank you again for making this such an unforgettable experience for our students!

To Scott, thank you for always taking on the most difficult components of the musical production. Many do not realize how much a Producer is involved in the show process, but you are steadfast and present from start to finish, and beyond. The love, history, and respect you show to the BHS Performing Arts is unwavering and admirable. And you truly are the silent, unheralded partner in these productions. Not all heroes wear capes… but they may wear

special ordered green polo shirts!

To Adam, no matter what crazy technical components I ask for, you deliver. Your skills, abilities, and artistic eye add everything magical to our shows. I am continually impressed by your work and ability to grow as a technical designer and tech teacher. There is no challenge too big for you Mr. J, I appreciate you more and more with every show. Thank you!

To Kathie and Kellie, alongside so many more volunteers who have made this musical successful! It seems every year, I choose to add a more difficult concept to the show. The costumes look fantastic, and with the last minute nature of their arrival, it is nothing short of miraculous that they are so well done. But I know it is no miracle, it is you and your willingness to give most of your time and energy to create these outstanding overall character looks!

I love you all, thank you for what you do!

To Lauren, I appreciate you ensuring ticket sales are successful. It is so greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed when teachers dedicate what little time they have to their students after school. I truly appreciate your time and the work you put into the production. Thank you!

Max, Joey, Cooper and Ang- You are a great stage management team, and more importantly, you are all outstanding human-beings. You have risen to every challenge I presented to you, and done so with smiles on your faces. Thank you for continuing to set the bar so high!

To my Set Construction Team, this show is one for the ages. Although you all kept trying to hide my sketch book due to my last minute additions, you always came from a place of yes, no matter what crazy additional pieces I asked for. This show could never happen with your dedication, expertise, and love for scenic art. There is no better group in the world to work with!

A very special thanks to my family, who always gives me exactly what I need to succeed. I hope you know what you all mean to me, I could not be the person I am without all of you. Your love and support is unwavering and unmatched. I love you, Thank You!!!!

To my dad, who is a guiding force in set construction and design. I am glad to have you by my side and supporting me in my ideas and builds. Whenever I need you, you are there, a comfort I certainly will never take for granted. I love you!

As usual, I would like to personally dedicate this show to my mom, without her I am not sure I would be here in Branford. While her physical absence is ever present, the traditions she left behind keep her spirit with us at all times. She would have loved this! But I take comfort in knowing she is here watching over me every day! I miss and love you!!!
