I am thrilled, working with this cast and crew, to bring Rent: School Edition to the PW stage. The hard work and dedication of the students of the past and present, along with the support of the current administration, has made this production possible. It has been my pleasure to work with such a creative, kind, supportive, accepting group of young adults. Their dedication and determination to succeed has been evident through their support, care and appreciation for each other over the past four months. They are a living tribute to the type of community that Jonathan Larson depicts in this compelling musical. While I am excited to share our work with the world, it will be a bittersweet conclusion as we will have to say goodbye to our seniors, many of whom have been leading our shows, both onstage and behind, for the past four years. To Lauren, Robert, Federica, Raquel, Jack, Samuel, Julie, Nate, CJ, Sean, Kamiah, Gabe, Tommy, Chris, Matt K, Kyle, Matt M, Luc, Lizzie, Kaela, Myah, Will and Jordan: Good luck in the future and never forget your time as a Colonial Player, as we will not forget you.
As always, I would be remiss without thanking my staff, the best musical theater staff around. Val, Jen, Rich, Jen, Barb, Paul, Eric, Peter, Melissa, Jeramie, and Maria: Thank you each for sharing your gift of talent and time with the Colonial Players and your gift of friendship and collaboration with me. It is truly my pleasure to work with you each day.
Thanks also to Dr. Bacani, Dr. Gorodetzer, the school board, and administration for their continued support of the performing arts. The Colonial School District’s commitment to the creative and performing arts provides our students with an outlet to express themselves artistically through music, acting, song, dance, painting and construction.
Finally, a big thank you to my wife, Carrie, and children, Luke, Lance, and Bryce, for sharing me the past several months and their constant support of my passion for theater. I love you all and will be home soon.
Enjoy the show.
