Covington County Schools

 CCS Collaborative Arts Competes!

This has been another fabulous year for the Covington County Schools’ Collaborative Arts Program.  Our experienced high school students have represented us well in the two major theatre competitions in our state: The Walter S. Trumbauer Festival and the Alabama Educational Theater Association’s Thespian Festival. In October, students competed at the District Trumbauer Festival in Mobile. All students earned superior scores and received invitations to state Trumbauer.  At the state competition in December, all received superior scores once again!  In addition, Logan DuMont won first place in the Musical Comedic category and Luke Thompson won second place in the Comedic Monologue category.

Many of these students sent in video auditions for the Alabama Thespian Festival  (We are unable to go in-person  because it is the weekend of this show!)  Five of our students have already been notified that they have scored high enough to compete at the International Thespian Festival this summer: Logan Dumont, Kathryn Thompson, Greysen Hancock, Luke Thompson, and Brevyn Jowers.  This takes a lot of work on the part of our students and sponsors, and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments. If anyone would like to sponsor these students for an amazing opportunity to compete on such a major stage, please contact any one of our CCS Collaborative Arts team listed in the program.
