Assistant Director's Message
Greetings, Rebel Nation, and thank you kindly for turning out to support our high school and middle school students as they put on a modern (well, I suppose how “modern” it actually is depends on one’s perspective) Disney classic! I must say that I haven’t had a great deal of time to step back and reflect on all that’s collectively gone on over these past few months to get “Mermaid” off the ground….every show I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of these past six years with Crestview Theater has had a different feel (that’s what’s so wonderful about theater productions in general–each one possesses its own unique “vibe”, if you will), and this one feels like a blur to me…it just seemed to come together so quickly! Even so, this perception doesn't change the fact that, as always, I’ve had a marvelous time watching our kids come together with their considerable talents and create this for you. I also feel blessed to get the chance to know so many energetic and talented new students, and I’m so thankful and happy that they joined us! They’ve meshed extremely well with our awesome veterans, to whom I also wish to express my gratitude. Ah, yes–now that I’ve mentioned “gratitude”, I’d like to shower some on Mr.Eric Bable, who I always describe (with not even a hint of irony) as our very own Orson Welles. His unwavering, enthusiastic commitment to discovering new elements to add to each new production greatly enhances the magic of the overall theatrical experience our students have–that we (hopefully) all have! Mrs. Van Kirk and Mrs. Burnell also deserve high praise for their lovely costumes, as does Mr. McCloskey for his expert set design/construction! Additionally, I would like to thank our terrific leadership team and administration at Crestview Schools for supporting this program. At any rate, thank you once again for being here, and ENJOY!
Respectfully yours,
Andrew B. Crawford
