NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

While teaching middle school drama back in 2012, I met Anderson C. Hill, II, during a school teach-in. His confidence, success, and larger-than-life presence immediately caught our attention, but it was his personal story, shared through his book, that truly left a lasting impression on me.

Years later, I finally received that book, along with a note expressing his dream of turning it into a film. Reading Hill’s book opened my eyes to how quickly the pursuit of fast money and status can derail a life, especially for Black men facing both opportunity and pressure. This play was inspired by that realization.

Though it has been quite a journey, I am incredibly grateful for every step that God has allowed us to take. It is only through Him that any of this has been possible.

Over the last few years, I have grown with each of these characters. It has been such a blessing to witness these characters come to life through the talented actors who portrayed them.

I am thankful for Anderson C. Hill, II, and Sandra Hill for entrusting me with their testimony for the big stage.

I want to express my gratitude to my one-of-a-kind producing partner, CeeJay Joseph, for not only taking this wild journey with me but also stepping into the role of Anderson C. Hill, II, and bringing that character to life in ways I could never have imagined.

I am grateful for our amazing cast and crew; I have been truly blessed to work with all of you. Each of you has made this vision possible, and working with you has become one of the most special moments in my career.

I want to give a special thanks to my amazing parents, Ronald Diltz I and Emma Diltz, for being the best parents in the world and for embracing these adventures with me.

I send a heartfelt thank you to my amazinig Queen, Monique Diltz, and our three little world-changers. Thank you for reminding me every day that life is bigger than the stage and for being the best distraction from my busy schedule.

My goal for this play is to spark reflection about choices, consequences, and the deeper truth that the love of money is the root of all evil. Ultimately, I hope our audience walk away feeling challenged, inspired, and hopeful.

Thank you all for your support!

As the great Anderson C. Hill, II always says, "Praise the LORD always!"
