Thank you ALL for coming to our production and celebrating our immensely talented students. They were amazing, weren't they? It's always so magical watching all the pieces come together in front of an audience and to see the pure joy on the faces of my students as they take their bows at curtain call. These are the middle school memories they'll cherish and you've been an integral part in that, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
In case you didn't know, this is Flat Rock’s second year with a fully operating Drama Department and we've been doing some big things over here! We’re in such an amazing location, am I right? If these students want to pursue acting, or even more behind-the-scenes work professionally, we’re not even 15 minutes away from Trilith Studios and there are a plethora of professional theatre companies at an arms reach as well! My goal is to help get them the tools they need to succeed while they’re young so they have time to really get a feel for the profession and decide if it’s something they’re passionate about.
With that in mind, the FRMS Drama Department has been focusing this school year on bringing in professional guest artists from the theatre and film industries for our students to get hands-on training and build their resumes and performance skills. My students have been attending workshops, classes, and training outside of school, some of the FRMS Advanced Drama students have worked on professional film sets and have even signed with professional talent agencies this year!
I'd love to continue bringing in professionals so that our students get to meet and work with real people in these positions, ask their questions, and be introduced to areas of the film and theatre worlds they may not have known about before. We're looking for actors, directors, editors, choreographers, casting directors, talent agents, SFX makeup artists, stuntmen, foley artists, writers, cameramen, lighting technicians, prop masters, costumers, talent coordinators, etc.
If you or someone you know would be interested in coming to work with our students, please reach out to me at Majure.Emma@fcboe.org with your rates and availability!
With that, it takes great courage to get in front of an audience, make yourself vulnerable and perform. If you enjoyed the show, please stop and tell the cast and crew on your way out. We'd sure love to hear your thoughts! Word of mouth will help our department grow and flourish just as much as financial donations, so please tell your friends and loved ones what you thought of the show and what we're doing here with the FRMS Drama Department. If you're posting about the show or the department online, using the hashtag #FRMSdrama would help us find and see your feedback!
Again, I thank you for supporting our students, their hardwork and dreams, and we hope to see you at future FRMS Drama productions.
Love & Light,
Emma Majure
