Little Shop of Horrors - May 07 - May 10, 2021

Fossil Ridge High School

 DIRECTOR'S NOTE

I am incredibly proud to be part of the Fossil Ridge performing arts program and to have had the opportunity to direct the students involved in this show. This was truly a team effort, and I hope you are delighted by the performances you see this evening. Little Shop of Horrors features a plant with an insatiable appetite, and it’s clear to me our students feel the same way about creating art for you. We welcome you to Skid Row, a place the fictional characters dream of escaping, but where we feel so thankful to have spent the last four months.

Thank you to the Fossil Ridge Administration and Poudre School District for supporting this production. Having theatre doors closed for the past year has been a trying experience, to say the least.

To be able to open our doors, to both live and virtual audiences, has been a challenging task that was joyfully taken on by more than 50 students. Coming together in January was surreal and uplifting. Seeing students in the theatre again, working on a show that allowed some escapism (nothing brings about escapism quite like a talking plant from outer space), elicited feelings of hope that some of us hadn’t felt in months. Some days felt like working on borrowed time, holding our breaths and hoping to get another day together. There were bumps along the road, to be sure, but we were constantly reminded that the work we do here is essential.

Thank you, to all of the students, who threw their energy into bringing this to life. Your dedication impressed me everyday.

Thank you to John, Bri, Kristin, Savannah, and Rebecca. To have shared this experience with you all is an honor I can not express here in words.

We’ll have tomorrow, but whatever they offer you, don’t feed the plant!
