Welcome...

The Keynotes and Gilbert H. Hood Middle School wish to welcome you to Bye Bye Birdie. Please relax and enjoy the musical prepared for you by the students, faculty and parents. This year, we have over 50 students involved in many facets of this production including painting and construction of sets and props, lighting, sound, acting, singing and dancing.

This show would not be possible without the tremendous effort of The Keynotes. The Keynotes is an organization of volunteer parents who produce and oversee so many activities connected to a successful program. They coordinate circulation of posters, t-shirt creation and distribution, makeup, costumes, props, refreshments, dressing room supervision, lights, play boards, the playbill, and the cast party. They accomplish this with enthusiasm, and at no cost to the taxpayers.

The Keynotes began 35 years ago and Bye Bye Birdie is the 39th show they have produced. The others include Magic to Do (1978), Silver Rock Celebration (1979), Broadway Tonight (1980), Headless Horseman (1980), Razzle Dazzle (1981), Scrooge (1981), New York City Suite (1982), The Wizard of Oz (1982, 1989, 1996), Bye Bye Birdie (1983, 1999), Charlie Brown (1983), Oliver (1984), Peter Pan (1985, 1994, 2004), The Hobbit (1986), Tied to the Tracks (1987, 1998), Of Thee I Sing (1988), Time and Time Again (1990), Terror (1997), Barnum (2000), Follow That Rabbit (2001), Cinderella's Glass Slipper (2002), The Musical Adventures of Oliver Twist (2003), Oz (2005), Honk! Jr. (2006), The Music Man Jr. (2007), Annie (2008), Into the Woods (2009), Guys and Dolls (2010), The Pirates of Penzance (2011), Sleeping Beauty (2012), and High School Musical Jr. (2013).

To all who have supported Bye Bye Birdie - the business community, parents, patrons, and sponsors - we extend our sincere thanks. Without you, our students would not be here performing this evening. To our students who have given so much of their time, effort and talent, we congratulate your success!
