Disney's High School Musical JR. - April 25 - April 26, 2025

Greenwood Middle School

 FROM THE DIRECTOR'S CHAIR

In the show Coach Bolton says: “I’m trying to teach these kids about having a goal, about teamwork, something they can use as adults.” Ms. Darbus replies: “Which is precisely what I am trying to do”. Activities such as theatre, athletics, and music - all in the end want the same goal. To teach students about having a goal – working to achieve that goal, being a good teammate and supporting each other. We want students to take those values with them into adulthood.

I have been amazed during this production about how the students are thinking about what drives their characters. I have seen them discuss this with each other. I love when they start thinking about what they can do to make a scene better. They take the initiative to work together to come up with something to do during a scene. Hopefully you can see what working together as a team, supporting each other, and having a common goal did to help the result – tonight’s production.

Students all have different interests during their school career. My hope is that they can get involved in something during their schooling that will teach them those things – working toward a goal and teamwork. The power of what we can do as a team is special because “We Are All In This Together.” When we all work toward a common goal the result can be amazing.

Enjoy the show!
