A Note from the Director

As we bring The Lion King JR to life on stage, I invite you to look a little deeper into the story unfolding before you. At first glance, it’s a tale of adventure, exile, and triumph—but at its heart, it carries echoes of something eternal: the story of redemption.

Like the prodigal son in the Bible, Simba turns away from his calling, his family, and the responsibility that was rightfully his. In fear and shame, he hides from who he was created to be. But grace, as it always does, finds him. Through the voices of Rafiki, Nala, and even the memory of his father, Simba is reminded of the truth: that he is more than what he has become.

In the same way, we too are often prone to wander. But no matter how far we run, the love of God continues to call us back. Just as Mufasa tells Simba, “You are my son,” our Heavenly Father offers that same affirmation to each of us.

If you find yourself relating to Simba tonight—lost, unsure, or longing for home—I encourage you to lean into the voice that’s calling you back. There is a Father who loves you deeply and who has never stopped pursuing your heart. His name is Jesus, and He is ready to welcome you with open arms.

Thank you for joining us for this performance. We hope it entertains you, inspires you, and most importantly, reminds you of the greatest story ever told.

With love and purpose,
Rosemary Giordano
