  Notes from the Director

Who belongs here?  Who gets to tell the story?  Who is in charge of the narrative?  What is the truth?

It may have been almost a century ago, but all of these questions were clearly on Luigi Pirandello's mind, as well as the subjects of class, capitalism, sexual exploitation, intimacy, mortality, mendacity, and totalitarianism.

As we've worked on adapting and bringing to life the work of Pirandello, we've been repeatedly taken aback by how topical his writing is.  We've enjoyed seeing how these three works (Six Characters in Search of an Author, Chee-Chee, and Man with the Flower in His Mouth) are in conversation with one another.  We hope you, our audience, enjoy that conversation, as well as the conversation theses pieces are having with our current moment.
