Jersey Shore Light Opera

 About Jersey Shore Light Opera

Jersey Shore Light Opera (JSLO) is a veteran-managed, not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enriching the local community through accessible theatrical and musical performances, arts education, and cultural engagement.

Rooted in the tradition of Gilbert and Sullivan, operetta, and Golden Age musicals, JSLO provides meaningful opportunities for audiences, students, volunteers, and artists to experience and participate in high-quality live performance. Although JSLO maintains a practical relationship with Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church in Toms River through the rental of rehearsal and office space, the organization operates as a separate, nonsectarian, and secular entity.

As JSLO continues to grow, it is working toward a letter of agreement with Actors’ Equity Association, the union representing professional actors and stage managers, while maintaining opportunities for both union and non-union performers. This balanced model will strengthen the organization’s artistic capacity, expand professional collaboration, and support JSLO’s long-term sustainability as a community-centered performing arts organization.
