Gwendolyn ”Doc” Lukas-Doctor has proudly directed the Monarch High School Theatre Department since 2004.  She has seen many ups and downs but has always felt blessed to work with such a dynamic and energetic community of thespians.  She studied Theatre at Drake University and Iowa State University and studied on special appointment with The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.  Upon moving to Denver in 1998, she acted professionally with The Denver Victorian Playhouse for three seasons, including such roles as Susan Walker in Miracle on 34th Street, Something Something Snetsky in Neil Simon’s Fools, Eileen in Moon Over Buffalo, and the legendary Camel in The Thief Who Stole the Night.  During her tenure at Monarch, she has directed 30 plays, directed and/or produced 13 musicals, and produced 15 One Act productions, as well as directed the Thespian Society Troupe 5989.   Besides instructing all the Theatre courses, she also teaches Mythology, 11th Grade Literature, and Creative Writing.  

 

Zach Coles is the Director of Choirs and Co-Director of Musical Theatre at Monarch High School. Prior to his appointment at Monarch, Zach taught at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, Colorado directing all choirs, the annual spring musical productions including Grease, Oklahoma, Footloose, and Once Upon a Mattress. He also has taught courses in piano and history of rock and roll. Other teaching experiences have included middle-level choir and theatre in Aurora Public Schools. Zach received a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University and served as graduate assistant to the State Singers and Men’s Glee Club as well as served as Chorus Master for the opera program. While at Michigan State he studied conducting with David Rayl, Sandra Snow, and Jonathan Reed. Zach attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education while studying with Greg Aune.

 

Jack is a student at Colorado University and is currently studying to be a chemistry teacher. He is an alumnus of Monarch Theatre and is excited to be back! "This show is dedicated to all the students who put their hearts into this show to make it the best it can be!"
