Mary Blackburn
(Choreographer) founder and Artistic Director of the American Dance Ensemble in New York City, and of Urban Artworks, a critically acclaimed presenting series at the NYC Pace Downtown Theater. She worked as a teaching artist for many years with the Lincoln Center Institute and served on the faculty of the American College Dance Festival, Dance Space Studios and the Peridance International Dance Center in NYC. Ms. Blackburn has choreographed over 70 dance works during her career as well as the musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cats, Ragtime, Once Upon a Mattress, Grease, Parade, Suessical the Musical, Ms. Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors, Pride and Prejudice, Urinetown, Hairspray and In the Heights for Monclair High School’s SVPA theater troupe, as well as Footloose for Morris Knolls. Ms. Blackburn was the Artistic Director of the Dance Company of the School of Visual and Performing Arts at MHS for 10 years and has been the dance instructor there for 18 years.
