David Edwards (Director/Artistic Director) has performed on Broadway and tour in The Producers, The Rothschilds, and By Jeeves and in hundreds of productions Off-Broadway and regionally. He directed The Butter and Egg Man and Fallen Angels for OotB. Directing credits include The Seafarer (Florida Rep), The Unexpected Guest (Gretna Theatre), By Jeeves (Meadow Brook Theatre—Wilde Award nom.), South Pacific and Man of La Mancha (Ivoryton Playhouse—Connecticut Critics Circle noms.), Meshuggah-Nuns (Gateway), The Producers (Westchester Broadway Theatre), title of show (Playhouse on Park), Souvenir (New London Barn), Bittersuite (Centenary Stage), Rumors and Showboat (Surflight).
Robert Karmon (Playwright, The Greenhouse) is an award-winning playwright and published author. Among his many plays and productions, he was nominated in New York by Show Business for Barnabas Among the Animals. He won the Silver Award at the Old Opera House in West Virginia for Godhavn. In Atlanta, he won the Clark State Theater’s International Playwriting Award for Caliban and Miranda. He was the co-collaborator on the libretto for the opera Gulliver, performed at the Tyrone Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He has published two novels, Isaac and Don’t Forget, along with a published play, The Resettlement of Isaac.
Halina Malinowski (Producer) Birds of a Feather is the 16th show that Halina has produced or co-produced for OotB. As president of OotB’s board of directors, Halina is responsible for the company’s strategic direction, legal compliance, and administrative, managerial, and financial challenges. Her experience includes over 30 years’ engagement with and for nonprofits.
Susan Case (Associate Producer) is a founding member of OotB and has served on its board of directors since 2006. She has worked on- or off-stage in various capacities—everything from acting (most recently as Kitty in The Butter and Egg Man) to doing laundry to moving sets—for all of the company’s productions. A professional actor/singer, she has also performed with VHRP LIVE!, the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, Light Opera of New York, and Opera Northeast. Off-stage, Susan is a freelance copy editor.
Harlan D. Penn (Scenic Designer/Technical Director) is a proud graduate of Florida A&M University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. The South Florida native has designed for Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, cable television, regional theater, and educational theater. In addition, Penn has served as an art director and assistant art director for film and television productions for Netflix, Hulu, ABC/Disney, NBC, Hallmark Movie Channel, CBS, and Turner Broadcasting. Film/TV productions include God Friended Me, For Life, Girls 5eva, The Last O.G., Saturday Night Live, Raising Kanan, FBI Most Wanted, Fire Island, The Noel Diary, Rise, Madame Secretary, Katy Keene, and Roland Martin Unfiltered. Mr. Penn is currently an assistant professor of Scenic Design at York College in Jamaica, Queens, NY.
Katherine Roberson (Costume Designer) just completed the Brownstone Steps Play Festival produced by Alicia Foxworth. She is glad to be back working with OotB, where she was most recently the costume designer of the Butter and Egg Man and previously of The Constant Wife, Chicago, Five by Tenn, and others “as a big girl still puts on mother’s clothes and walks down the long steps.” Her long career also includes working as costume designer or wardrobe mistress for the Negro Ensemble Company, New Federal Theater, Morningside Players, H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players, Black Spectrum Theater, NYC Shakespeare Festival Theater, AGM Theater Company, and many others.
