This play is a series of vignettes, or independent scenes, connected by a common location and important ideas. We rehearsed these scenes across two different classes of Theatre 1 and put the casts and crew together only during dress rehearsals to unite the production. Until dress rehearsals, we had only met outside classroom hours for 30 minutes on one Wednesday.
Scenes one and three were rehearsed in first block. Scenes two and five were rehearsed in second block. Scene four was rehearsed in fourth block to allow a student not enrolled in Theatre 1 to join the cast as a replacement, and to collaborate with a student from second block.
All scenes in the play take place on a wooden dock that extends onto a lake. The location of the dock is wherever your heart says it is, but it might be near here--near home. The time is now. Or now-ish.
