Welcome, everyone, and thank you for joining us under the sea for our production of The Little Mermaid! I promise to keep this note shoret, but there’s a lot to say about the incredible journey that brought us here, so let minnow if I go on too long. (Yes, the fish puns have already started. I codn’t resist.)
This production has been a true school effort (yes, that’s a fish joke, gill-ty as charged). Our students have poured their hearts, souls, and plenty of sole into creating the world you’re about to experience. From early morning vocal warm-ups to late-night rehearsals, they’ve worked their tails off, some of them quite literally, since, well…mermaids....
Putting on a musical is no small feat. Our students have poured their hearts, humor, and a whole lot of sole into bringing this underwater world to life. It takes countless hours of choreography, blocking, set building, costume designing, prop making, lighting programming, and character crafting. Every shimmering scale, every piece of seaweed, every note sung onstage represents the dedication and determination of students who refused to flounder even when the waters got rough. They embraced each challenge with creativity, teamwork, and a sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest ocean depths.
What you see onstage tonight is the result of dedication, teamwork, and bravery. Theatre asks young people to communicate, collaborate, problem-solve, take risks, and support one another. It builds confidence, empathy, creativity, and resilience—skills that will last them long after the final curtain falls. In many ways, these students are discovering their voices and learning to navigate the big ocean of life, and it’s a privilege to watch them grow.
I’d also like to give a whale-sized thank you to my team, the volunteers, and to the families. Without your support, we’d be completely adrift. You helped guide this ship safely to shore, and we are endlessly grateful.
And to my cast and crew: I am so proud of the waves you’ve made. You’ve worked tirelessly, lifted each other up, and created something truly amazing.
Tonight, we invite you to dive in and enjoy the magic these talented young artists have created. We hope you find the show fin-tastic, unforgettable, and filled with the spirit of imagination that only students can bring to the stage. So please, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. We hope it makes a splash and leaves you with a heart full of warm tides.
Thank you for swimming by, and enjoy the show!
