Toby O'Brien
as Snug/Cobweb
is a Richmond based actor, musician, teacher, and fight director. Having previously played Rosencrantz in Hamlet, he’s thrilled to be making his return to the Richmond Shakespeare stage with A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Some of his other acting credits include Moriarty (U/S) with Virginia Repertory Theatre, the Lion in The Boy with the Lion at Firehouse Theatre, and as a Rakish Rogue with The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Toby spent many years living in New Orleans where he worked as a singer-songwriter and co-founded the indie record label: Third Coast Studios. As a fight director, he choreographed Love is the Greater Labyrinth (University of Virginia), assisted in the choreography for The Wild Party (VCU), and was fight captain for Hamlet (Richmond Shakespeare). He is currently pursuing his MFA in Performance Pedagogy at Virginia Commonwealth University in hopes of teaching acting and stage combat at the university level.
