A Note From the Theatre Department...

Dear Parents, Families, Students and Friends,

Welcome to the show! I hope you’ll enjoy our production of Shrek, the Musical.

For those of you who don’t know me, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Scott Harris, and I’m the new Theatre Director at Rye Neck High School. I began this past fall, and have been working hard to continue this school’s wonderful theatrical legacy. Having only been here several months, I can already tell you how lucky I feel to be part of the Rye Neck community. Thank you to all the parents and staff who have already made me feel so warmly welcomed!

There are so many new initiatives happening in the Theatre Department at Rye Neck. Here are just a few: we recently introduced a Master Class program, where professional industry actors, playwrights, casting directors and more come and speak with our students. We’ve also recently begun a partnership with Manhattanville College, through which our Advanced Theatre students can earn college credit for participating in class. And next year, we’ll launch our first-ever school Play, designed to complement the annual Musical production. We plan to start with Laughing Stock, a hilarious comedy that I hope you will come out and support.

It’s been such a pleasure working alongside Shrek Directors Steve Loftus and Tricia Arenson these past few months. The energy and passion they put into the production is contagious – you are in for a real treat! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
