    (Sophomore) has been acting since age nine in productions at the Harlem School for the Arts. Last year she made her B’DAT debut with the Freshman Project’s Complete Works of Shakespeare. Taliyah also loves to dance and sing. If she could change anything about America she would work to reduce poverty and give everyone an equal chance at jobs and education without discrimination of any kind.

    Born in NYC in 1956 and raised in Lake Charles, LA, Kushner is best known for Angels In America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes. Other plays include A Bright Room Called Day, Homebody/Kabul, and screenplays for Mike Nichols’ film of Angels In America, and Steven Spielberg’s Munich and Lincoln. His recent work includes the one-acts collection Tiny Kushner, and The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures. Awards: Pulitzer Prize for Drama, an Emmy, two Tonys, three Obies, among many others. Caroline, or Change, produced at the National Theatre of Great Britain, received the Evening Standard Award, the London Drama Critics’ Circle Award and the Olivier Award for Best Musical. Tony Kushner was the first recipient of the Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award, and is the subject of Wrestling with Angels: Playwright Tony Kushner, made by the Oscar-winning filmmaker Freida Lee Mock. He lives in Manhattan with his husband, Mark Harris.

    Jeanine Tesori, is an award winning composer, record producer and conductor. For Shrek the Musical she earned both Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations. And she won the 2004 Drama Desk Award for Best Score for Caroline, or Change and the 2003 Tony Award winner for Best Musical for Thoroughly Modern Millie. Prior to Millie, she wrote an exotic score for Nicholas Hytner’s production of Twelfth Night at Lincoln Center for which she was honored with a 1999 Tony Award nomination and Drama Desk Award. With lyricist and librettist Brian Crawley, Ms. Tesori wrote the score to the Off-Broadway musical Violet, which was also heavily awarded and recently produced, on Broadway. Ms. Tesori has worked extensively as a Broadway arranger and conductor on: The Who’s Tommy, The Sound of Music, How to Succeed, Dream, Gypsy, Big River, The Secret Garden and Swing. Ms. Tesori lives in Manhattan with her husband, conductor Michael Rafter, and their daughter Siena.
