Angela Best, Box Office Manager and New Plays & Experimental Theater

Angela Best has been somewhat of an area theatre renaissance woman for the past four years, as an actor, playwright and box office manager. She has appeared in “What’s Wrong with this Picture?” and “The Witches” at The Generic, and in regional productions at The Venue on 35th and the Little Theatre of Virginia Beach. She has previously served on The Generic’s Board of Directors as Vice-President. As Box Office Manager, Angela oversees ticket sales and season subscriptions. As director of the newly-formed New Plays & Experimental Theater division, Angela facilities the discovery and creation of new work for the American theatre. Angela graduated from University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in Theater. 

 

 

Ashley Wrye, Costume Shop Manager

Ashley is the Costume Shop Manager. She has previously appeared in The Generic’s “The Great American Trailer Park Musical”, “Corrupted Christmas Carols” at The Venue on 35th, and “Panties in a Twist” with The Pushers at The Norva. 

 

 

David Beloff, Resident Photographer

David Adam Beloff, a photographer who grew up in Hampton Roads, captures many moments with his camera. David’s work spans from artsy black & white images to the colorful rockstars that perform at various venues in Hampton Roads. His photography has been featured on TIME Magazine. See more of his work on his website www.dabphotos.com  David is also a nationwide speaker on title searching and is the owner of Judicial Title, LLC. He studied at Virginia Commonwealth University. 

 

Kristi Duke, Office Administrator

Kristi is The Generic Theater Office Administrator. She has stage managed the productions of “The Eulogist” and “Arcadia”.

 

 

Chip Fortier, Board of Directors

A prolific playwright, Chip’s produced plays includes “The Eulogist”, “God, No” and “The Space” at The Generic Theater. Chip also wrote “1607: First Landing” which ran for five seasons at Fort Story in Virginia Beach. He has also written several screenplays that have been optioned.  His script "Assassin's View" was a finalist in the Virginia Festival ofAmerican Film Screenplay competition.  He currently works with Sinclair Communications in the area of radio marketing and sales.   He xx previously worked as Account Executive at WAVY-TV and Regional Sales Director at The Family Channel. Chip received his Master’s degree from Regent University in Writing and Communications, and his Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in Economics.

 

David B. Springstead, Sr., Board of Directors David has been an active member of the performing community since moving to Hampton Roads in 1984, first with the former City of Virginia Beach Performing Arts Unit.  With over four decades of experience in theatre, he is the founder of “actin’ in His Name” (a theatre group that was based at Community United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach), is a former member of the Board of Directors with The Goodyear Theatre (Akron, OH), is the current Vice-President of the Little Theatre of Portsmouth. He has written, produced, directed, tech-directed, and just about everything else one can do in theatre.  David is an accomplished actor who has four North American or National Tours under his belt, most recently in 2011-12 with the “Fiddler on the Roof.”  He aims to help develop Generic Theater’s recognition as the Hampton Roads performance and technical venue for training the next generation of theatre folk. A native Ohioan, where it’s rumored that wherever two main highways cross you’ll find a theatre, David is in his first year on the Board of Directors. He studied Music Education and Voice at Illinois Wesleyan University.
