DIRECTOR'S NOTES

Bringing Matilda: the Musical to life with this extraordinary group of students has been nothing short of magical. From the very first rehearsal, it was clear that this cast and crew were ready to embrace the heart, humor, and power of Roald Dahl’s beloved story.

At its core, Matilda is about resilience, intelligence, and the courage to stand up for what is right. These students have embodied those themes not just on stage, but throughout the rehearsal process—showing dedication, creativity, and a deep love for storytelling. Whether mastering the intricate choreography, finding the nuance in each character, or supporting one another behind the scenes, they have proven that theatre is about more than just putting on a show—it's about building a family.

Directing this production has been an absolute joy, and I could not be prouder of the work these students have accomplished. Their passion, talent, and teamwork shine in every moment of this production. I hope you enjoy watching Matilda as much as we have enjoyed bringing it to life!

STUDENT DIRECTOR'S NOTES

Matilda is a show about knowing your own strength and owning it. These characters teach us that no matter how small you seem, you can do things much, much bigger than yourself. This message has been integrated since day one; this beautiful cast came together, as individuals, to make something so beautiful and larger than life.

This is my first production as the lead student director, which I never thought l'd be able to say. To be able to watch my peers take classic characters and bring them to life in ways l've never seen before has been so inspiring to me. l've always been a person who didn't believe in boxes, or types and I love influencing that in our work. This cast truly stepped out of their skins and became these characters, and as a director and a friend, I could not be more proud.
