A NOTE FROM OUR DIRECTORS…
It is our pleasure to have you as part of our performance of IN THE HEIGHTS this evening. We are so pleased to be celebrating our sixth season as directors of the drama club. Over the past six years, the drama club has grown from a small group of students to a huge community involvement every year. We have over fifty students involved directly through the cast and crew. We also appreciate the support that we have from students who are not in the performance – so many fellow Wizards come out to support their friends and family every show!
The West Warwick High School Players is truly a community effort. All three directors are WWPS teachers and think of the drama club as an extension of our classroom teaching. We not only apply the musical concepts that we teach but also the 21st century skills of teamwork, responsibility, dedication, and leadership. Watching these students grow into independent young adults is the most rewarding part!
There were many other WWPS teachers and staff involved in the production as well. We could never make this production a success without their help! We are also sincerely grateful to the administration for their unwavering support. We are so fortunate to be part of a school system that values the arts and the benefits it has for our students and community.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped this production come together. You will see many names in this program of people who contributed to our production and we are sure that there are many more who helped this production in ways that we don’t even know about. A special thank you to our cast and their families for making the drama club a priority in your life… We know that we ask a lot from you but it is all worth it to see your success! The students have worked tirelessly for the past three and a half months. They meet four days a week for two hours each day as well as time during vacation and evenings the week before the performance. This was such a dedicated, hard working group of students. Their efforts are apparent in their performance and we could not be prouder!
We hope that you enjoy our production of IN THE HEIGHTS this evening and celebrating six years of excellent theatre at West Warwick High School!
