Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story - December 20 - December 22, 2019

Wildcat Theatre Company--Ponca City High Scho

 Special Mention

Once you know and begin to understand the desperate poverty of so many people in the Victorian era, (and the current era as well) you begin to better understand the images portrayed in some Victorian Era Christmas Cards. I have used images of the actual cards throughout the Playbill. See if you can recognize the social commentary and the call to action in each of the images.

I also want to take a moment and recognize the student production staff in a special way. Typically, theatre techicians go unrecognized because when we do a good job-- no one is supposed to notice. However, this group particularly deserves some recognition. When we formed the Wildcat Theatre Company as a way to bring students together, and allow anyone to participate in theatre, certain students emerged immediately as leaders. Without these special people, the program here would never work. I look forward, with excitement, to see what the future holds for these special people. You should also know that these students have been charged with the duty of finding and training younger students to fill their shoes once they graduate to their own, independent lives.

Theatre technicians and actors are often portrayed as "living in the dark" because we tend to spend so much time in the theatre that we never get to see the sun. I would like to thank, most especially, these wonderful students who bring their own sunshine:

  • Tyler Zimmerscheid: Assistant Director: an intuitive, steady guide, and a fierce protector in the darkness.
  • Ella Stephens: Stage Manager, Scene Painter, Makeup Artist: a beautiful flower, ever blooming in the darkness.
  • Mariely Cabrales: property manager: the mouse who roared in the darkness.
  • Jacob Matthews: Master Carpenter: a rock solid, gentle hand at the wheel through the darkness.
  • Jayden Ryan: Costume Manager: a responsible, generous source of laughter and joy through the darkness.
  • Matthew Green: Sound Manager: a silent giant who makes sense of chaos in the darkness.
  • Jared Meeks, Lighting Manager: a fire-bringer to the darkness.
  • Jace Hunter, Property Construction, Set Construction and, Scenic Artist: a talented, and loyal lamp in the darkness.
