'Twas Brillig - June 13 - June 27, 2015

A Theatre Near U

 End Notes

A Note from the Directors

Us right here? We’re the normal. We’re the well-adjusted. Yes, sir, no ma’am, there’s nothing off-beat and oddball going on in these parts. We’re not bent. Not in the least.

It’s them, those other folks over there, those weirdos wearing the creepy… what are those things they’re wearing, anyway? It’s them. They’re the freaks. Right? Freakin’ freaks.

Look at them, those strangers. They live to buy… goods. It doesn’t matter what goods they buy, just so long as they’re buying. They buy pastes to streak their faces with garish colors. They hire others to cut their bodies open, take stuff out, and then stitch them back up. They fill their rooms with goods, trash them, and immediately begin again. They spend hours following the exploits of others who are spending their hours following others, too. They offer others small, spare moments of love. It’s all the time they can afford. Sadly, what they can’t buy infuriates them. It makes their blood brillig. All too often, the only way they can cope with the difficulties they face is by swallowing a potion they buy from the good doctor. Does it matter which doctor? No.

To us, naturally, those people are absurd. Good thing we’re nothing like them. Good thing.

A Theatre Near U is thrilled to present you with, "‘Twas Brillig." We love challenging ourselves to produce original works that are not typical fare, plays and films that are top-notch and high quality, while remaining singularly unique and thought provoking. We feel we’ve accomplished this with, ‘Twas Brillig, in no small part because this cast, crew and band is crazy talented and beyond a wonderful collection of people. We are incredibly lucky to be able to work with them. Incredibly so.

What you are about to see is absurd. It’s nothing like real life. Go ahead and have a laugh.
