One day, while walking down the hall, I walked past the smiliest student I'd ever encountered. As I passed him, he said, "Hi Larry!"
I quickly turned around to ask what he had said and he pointed out that he called everyone Larry and Susan. Being a goof myself, I responded with, "What a coincidence, my name is Larry and Susan." From then on we would recreate versions of this exchange for months, usually ending in him calling me "Larry and Susan" with that unmatchable smile and laughter. I was thrilled that this young man I immediately described as absolute sunshine was interested in being a part of the Drama Department.
Fast forward to last week, when we were floored by the sudden loss of the bright light we had come to know. But it didn't take long for us to realize that though he left us, he left us changed. He left us better. He left us happy. Dominic Geskey was a powerhouse of positive energy. May we use the art of theatre the way he used his smile. Every smile we create with "Bye Bye Birdie" has Dom in it. We will do our best to shine like Dom!
