    Dr. Myrlene Kennedy

    Musical Founder/Producer - In 1969, Myrlene Kennedy directed and produced the first FHS musical, BRIGADOON. MARY POPPINS is the 47th show. "Dr. K's" tradition of excellence and the love of the Arts were and are the driving forces behind the FHS musicals. Dr. Myrlene Kennedy passed away on January 12, 2014. Her legacy lives on through the Friendswood High School musicals. She is greatly missed.

    As FISD celebrates its 75th Anniversary, we are pleased to unveil the newly remolded lobby named in honor of the FHS Musical founder, Dr. Myrlene Kennedy. The Myrlene Kennedy Auditorium will continue to be a place where our students and our community can come to share the fine arts for many years to come in her honor. Nightly we will rededicate this space in her name as her legacy continues.

    Kathy Powdrell

    Director - Kathy Powdrell has directed 20 FHS Musicals. In 2008 she was the University Interscholastic League Sponsor Excellence Award Winner with 13 visits to the State Meet and 4 state championships, as well as Founder's Award Winner for the Texas Educational Theatre Association where she served as President Elect. She and Earle are advocates for The National Spinal Cord Injury Association.

  • Janwin Overstreet-Goode head shot

    Janwin Overstreet-Goode

    Vocal Music - Ms. Overstreet-Goode is in her 11th year as the choral director at FHS. In 2008, the FHS Campus Singers were a TMEA Invited Performing Choir. Ms. Goode received the FISD “Making a Difference” Award in 2009 and the 2008 Houston Symphony Orchestra Outstanding Music Educator in the field of Choral Music. She currently serves as President of the Texas Music Educators Association.

  • Ashley Marmaro head shot

    Ashley Marmaro

    Choreographer - From Friendswood, Ashley Marmaro earned a BS in Dance from Texas State University, where she was a member of the Strutters. She is currently the Wranglerettes’ Head Dance Director and is also the choreographer for the Musical. Under Mrs. Marmaro’s direction the drill team has won several national titles and she has been nominated for five Tommy Tune Awards for Best Choreography.
