Our Purpose: The Scene Stealers of Shepherd University was established to provide an opportunity for students to perform, direct, and be involved in all auxiliary components of scenes and productions from the world of music theater. This organization is a venue to showcase student talents and abilities.
A Brief History:
Shepherd University Scene Stealers was founded in the spring semester of 2011 by Scott Donaldson and Brian James. The group was formed to provide more performance opportunities to ALL Shepherd students, particularly those following the BA Degree with a Musical Theatre concentration. Students are also given an opportunity to direct or musically direct shows if interested. Each year, Scene Stealers performs two productions, one production per semester.
At first, Scene Stealers productions were small, cabaret-style revue shows giving anyone interested an opportunity to perform. With the growth of the organization, the members of Scene Stealers produced the first full-fledged, official musical, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, in the third semester.
Scene Stealers takes pride in being a completely student-run organization. This means all Scene Stealers productions are student-run, student-organized, and student-funded. Students are in charge of directing, costuming, advertising, production aspects and much more! The Executive Board, consisting of four officers, SGA representatives, and the production team of the current or upcoming show, manage all behind-the-scenes aspects of the production.
Founding Members of Scene Stealers include: Scott Donaldson, Brian James, Johnna Leary, Megan West, Marissa Kulp, Christy Boudreaux and Paul Cabell.
