 A Note from the Director

Welcome to Ordinary Days; we are so excited to share this piece with you!

As soon as I came across Ordinary Days, I knew I had to do it immediately. Besides Adam Gwon’s witty lyrics and brilliant score, what struck me about Ordinary Days was how relatable the show was. The characters’ incessant quest to find themselves despite the sea of stress surrounding them was an all too familiar one. In our modern-day society (and, more specifically, at PAA), we are always striving for the “big picture.” All too often we forget to appreciate the ordinary staring us in the face.

For me, the show is about connection - to oneself, to the human spirit, to the bigger whole, etc. Ordinary Days reminds us to shift our perspective every now and then to see that there is so much more outside of our own bubbles of anxiety. There is an entire planet of beings willing to connect with us if we allow them in. I think this is an extremely relevant message to bring to PAA, and I hope that we have achieved that here.

I have been so lucky to have brought this (fully student-run) piece to you. Thank you to all of the amazing artists who have had any hand in creating this piece - from the actors, to the designers, to those whose work is featured on our set. Keep doing what you love, and remember…

“Don’t worry, everything will be okay.” –Ordinary Days, Adam Gwon

Enjoy!
