“Know That You’re Whole.”

This is a phrase I think all people need to hear at some point in their life. Whether dealing with self-discovery, trauma, or general life annoyances - it’s something everyone deserves to be reminded of. This show is truly that phrase coming to life. This show is one I, like many other people, have loved for a very long time. There is something so humanizing about witnessing another’s journey of self-discovery, the rise, and the fall that is natural in life. It is something that aids all humans, it’s the reason humans yearn to be understood and seek out art as a resource for this. As a non-binary person, and a young queer person, this show meant a great deal to me when I was a teenager and figuring out who I was. Granted, we’re always still figuring out who we are. Hedwig is as flawed and human as anyone else, and there is beauty in her discoveries. Seeing someone who didn’t always know who they were or what that meant for their life, but that they could still grow and learn meant it was okay for me to feel that way too. Gender and sexuality are something deeply personal and specific to every individual, but there is safety and hope in numbers. Everyone sitting in this room tonight is coming to this show with a different perspective on this world and the life we live, and I hope existing in this room together for 90 minutes can bring us closer to each other and those in our lives. There is beauty in community, and beauty in understanding one another. I hope in witnessing this show tonight you feel the love and time that we’ve put into this production. To everyone - and especially the LGBTQIA+ community, thank you for coming to our show, and know that you’re whole.
