Time seems like a simple concept, but not really. As I've thought about the 9 years that I have spent creating shows with the Actionplay AIMS program, the time we spend honoring our participants' ideas in a musical is the main goal from year to year. Building a new musical in 7 to 8 months is never simple. Figuring out how to combine all ideas from the 19 impressive participants that we've had this year was a huge goal! I'm so happy that we've made it because you will see this very unique show we've been working so hard to put together.
I've developed new plays and musicals professionally outside of Actionplay. What makes this process special is the priority of honoring the community's ideas and needs first. Only having the cast of participants rehearse one day per week until tech is a lot to ask of any performer. Yet our community rises to the occasion every time! By unifying the joyous ideas from the whole year, we have a full hour of incredible characters, original songs, and choreography mixed with (SPOILER ALERT!) duels. We thank you for spending time with us. To my amazing cast, crew, and creative team, I'll quote one of my favorite sayings from the rehearsal room: "Let's party..."
