(Dorothy) Ann (Willis) Richards was an American Democratic politician and 45th Governor of Texas. She gained national attention as the Texas State Treasurer, when she delivered the keynote address at the 1988 Democratic National Convention.

Barbara (Charline) Jordan was an American lawyer, educator and politician who was a leader of the Civil Rights Movement. A Democrat, she was the first African American elected to the Texas  Senate after Reconstruction and the first Southern African-American woman elected to the United States House of Representatives.

Molly Ivins (Mary Tyler Ivins)--comment about “Republican Hair”-- was an outspoken, satirical, award winning journalist that began her newspaper career with the Houston Chronicle, She was co-editor of the Texas Observer,  concentrating on politics and social justice issues. In 1976 Ivins became a political reporter for the New York Times. She returned to Texas in 1982 as a columnist for the Dallas Times-Herald and then, for nine years, with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram

 

Sarah (Ragle) Weddington (born February 5, 1945), is an American attorney, law professor, and former member of the Texas House of Representatives best known for representing "Jane Roe" (real name Norma McCorvey) in the landmark Roe v. Wade case before the United States Supreme Court.

Jane Hickie-- Close friend of Ann, Administrative Assistant with Ann Richards’ County Commissioner’s office. She was Richards’ campaign manager, and the instigator of Richards’ alcohol intervention in 1980.
