Hello and welcome everyone.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for coming and sharing this very special experience with me tonight. Although I have directed other plays, never before have I had the pleasure of directing my very first play at the high school from which I graduated. I remember so vividly my personal growth on this very stage. The passion and desire which I had as a student has now turned around enabling me to share that very same desire and dedication as the director of Lend me a Tenor. I also want to thank my colleagues, family, and close friends for supporting me throughout the years, and especially tonight.   

Each day has been a challenge since the auditions back in August. I was nervous and anxious to begin the process but quickly realized the quality of the students I was working with. As rehearsals continued, my goal of providing a safe place for the students to be creative became a breeze as the bond between these young actors and myself began to grow. Laughing, trusting, crying, and creating together helped to make this an amazing process. Their continuous bravery and willingness to take risks inspires me each day to follow my dream.

As you watch this production, I encourage you to let go of your daily stresses and appreciate this lighthearted farce. I hope you enjoy this performance just as much as the students and I enjoyed the journey. I look forward to many years of directing at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts.
