If you would have asked me one year ago if I thought I’d be teaching in Fort Worth, TX, after having moved my family from Houston during a pandemic, and directing a production of Little Women at All Saints’ Episcopal School after a major winter storm that took the entire week before our production away from us, I would have said, “That...sounds crazy enough to be true.” And it was. However, while this entire year has been completely unexpected for all of us, and we have missed out on certain things, I am thankful for what I have gained. Colleagues here at All Saints’ that root for each other and support one another. Parents that do all they can to help their students as well as the teachers. And most of all, these incredible students.
I’m blown away by the work ethic, poise, and perspective these students are able to have on a day to day basis with the circumstances around them. They have taught me so much about what it means to persevere, and getting to teach and direct them has been an unexpected joy this year has provided.
Being new this year, along with my musical partner, Ms. Caldwell, we were not sure what musical to select, as it's a year like no other. We were hopeful that Little Women would be a good choice, but we knew the challenges this specific musical required. This cast and crew has been the perfect company for this production. It’s been another unexpected joy to see the students take this classic story and bring it to life on stage. And while a video production is not what anyone envisioned, I hope you also experience unexpected joy from watching our production of Little Women.
Thank you all for your support, and enjoy the show!
