The Music Man - January 22 - January 25, 2026

All Saints Episcopal School

 End Notes

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

I'm so grateful to this cast and crew for all the hard work they have put into this production.  This is the largest cast we have had in my tenure here at All Saints', and I'm so thankful for each and every one of them.  I'm also excited to work with the Lower School and Middle School students on this production.

The Music Man, written by Meredith Willson, won Best Musical in 1957, beating West Side Story, which funnily enough is my favorite musical.  While audiences in 1957 may not have been ready for that story, they were ready for this one.  The Music Man has had two Broadway revivals, a film version, as well as a made for TV version, making it a classic American musical.  The reason behind this is clear; the characters, the story, and the music all help create this beloved musical.

I am also thankful to work with my wife, Lindsay Longacre again as our choreographer.  It's always special for me when I can spend more time with my family, and our daughters, Ruby and Eleanor, have (mostly) enjoyed all the time spent up at All Saints' during rehearsals.

A special thank you to you, our friends and family, for making it out to see live theatre.  There is something special that happens in a live theatre space that cannot be recreated on video.  Thank you for being here to witness this performance and not only supporting live theatre, but our Fine Arts Department.

I'd also like to say a special thank you and shoutout to my awesome 2025-2026 Theatre Officers listed below.  Y'all have been so helpful in making this year a great one for our department, and your leadership is valued and appreciated!

Whether you have seen The Music Man before or not, I hope you enjoy the show and can escape to a simpler time in River City, Iowa.  Thank you for coming!

-Mr. Longacre
