Director's Notes:

When I first brought this play to the students, they were really alarmed about the content. In the world of the play- the people in the town, Tuna (which resides in Texas) are really backwards and old school. The characters you will meet tonight seem to be a little…odd. Not exactly what we theatre people would call “forward thinkers.” However, that is exactly why I chose this play. We all can relate to getting stuck in a rut sometimes. We all can understand what it means to walk through a hallway with blinders on. When things get really tough for the characters in the show, they turn to God and ask for His help. Petey says, “…if you did create all this, we sure could use some help takin’ care of it.”

You see, Greater Tuna isn’t just about these self-centered people. It’s about how ALL of us get stuck in our own small worlds- and all we need is a little help and a little faith, to guide us through our path.
