Inherit the Wind - June 13 - June 22, 2025

Appalachian Society of the Arts

 Plateau Players & ASOTA

Since its inception in 2007, the Plateau Players, Scott County’s community theater, has committed to building our community through the arts. With our inaugural production, Clay Harris’s Timber & Coal, we celebrated the tribulations and triumphs of our Appalachian history. Since then, we have performed in myriad local venues and highlighted local talents in plays, children’s performances, musicals, concerts, and music. More recently, we brought you Steel Magnolias, Bright Star, Christmas Madrigals, and The Sound of Music. And earlier this year, the Plateau Jr. Players dazzled audiences with School of Rock.

Now, we are thrilled to bring the well-known classic "Inherit the Wind" to the stage, featuring a multigenerational cast in its fictionalized portrayal of a Tennessee court trial that captivated the nation. We thank you for your support and look forward to many more years of spotlighting and inspiring local talent of all ages.

Watch for upcoming ticket information for our 2025 Fall Musical (November '25) and Christmas Madrigal Dinner (December '25).  The 2026 season is also well in development with a comedy, a youth production and a new locally written musical for the fall.  These are exciting times for our community theater and encourage anyone interesting in helping out financially, or as a member of our cast or crew - just let us know and you will be welcomed.

Now, sit back and enjoy the show!

At the Appalachian Society of the Arts, our mission is rooted in the belief that the arts are not a just a luxury—they are a living thread in the fabric of Appalachian life. Through theater, music, storytelling, and visual arts, we seek to honor the rich cultural heritage of this region while creating space for new voices and creative expression to thrive.

Each production is more than a performance; it is a gathering of community, tradition, and imagination. We are grateful for your support in keeping the arts vibrant and accessible across our community. Whether you're here for the first time or a longtime friend, we’re honored to share this moment with you.

Sincerely,

Ace Glaspy

President, Appalachian Society of the Arts
