Note From the Director:
This show has a great deal of significance to a young boy growing up in the Land of Row Houses in the 1960’s. We watched American bandstand, Ed Sullivan, and the protests on the evening news. Hairspray seems to capture the best and the worst features of that decade with characters that seemed to live across town from me.
This season has brought a whole new wave of young talent into Arena Fair, gloriously showcased in this production. The future belongs to the young, as Motormouth Maybelle would say, and our future, like that of Arena Fair Theatre, seems bright with the promise of talent and youth.
