Brigadoon - July 24 - July 26, 2015

Arena Fair Theatre

 End Notes

Note From the Director:

If Arena Fair created a Hall of Fame for the Performing Arts for the Citizens of Delaware, my first nomination would be Vincent Minnelli. Despite a non-distinguished President of the United States, Minnelli is our favorite son!  He came from a theatrical family (I can relate to that) and went on to Broadway (I can only wish).  After working as an art director on a few productions, he was stolen away by the MGM studios to direct the best, big-budget musicals of Hollywood's Golden Age: Meet Me in St. Louis, Kismet, Brigadoon, Gigi, An American in Paris, and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.

And a further testament to his power, is that stage versions of not one, but two of his artistic triumphs, are currently on Broadway; Gigi and An American in Paris.

He also directed other notable non-musicals; is a charter member of any Hollywood artistic pantheon, and he once walked the streets of Delaware.

Someday we will have an annual celebration of his talents, but for now, let us honor him with this first-class production of Lerner and Loewe's "Brigadoon".
