Notes from the Director:

I am extremely proud of this year's AGHS Theatre Company. It has been a trying year for everyone and for the performing arts it has been devastating. The pandemic has made it difficult and almost impossible for theatre artists to practice their craft and share their passion.

I have always said the greatest skill learned in a theatre class is empathy. As an actor, you have to put yourself in someone else's shoes, to see things from a different point of view. It is a powerful tool that will guide us on a path towards a more enlightened and hopeful future. Due to isolating factors such as online schooling and social distancing, it has been much harder to connect with our fellow humans this past year. This has been particularly challenging for the theatre community, whose foundation is supported by empathy and the communal experience.

We chose to perform "The Theory of Relativity" this year, not because it is well known or because everyone knows the songs, but because it reminds us that we are all interconnected. Like gravity, people in our universe, even those we don't know, can have an effect on the trajectories we travel through life. I hope I have had some effect on my students and I know they have had a powerful effect on me. So, we chose a show that celebrates our dependence on one another. It is with great joy that our company brings you this production. To quote the lyric we are "nothing without you", so thank you for joining us and enjoy the show.
