 About the Director 


Robert Marcantel makes his directorial debut with “The Producers.” A native of Kinder, Robert’s interest in the theater began when he appeared in a high school production. He later appeared  in McNeese Theater’s production of “The Playboy of the  Western World.” A seven-­time ACTA winner, he began his career at ACTS in their first production of “Scrooge.” He won Best Supporting ACTA awards for his roles in “The  Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” “Solid Gold Cadillac,” “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” and “Chicago” and Best Actor Awards for his roles in “Scrooge” and “Doubt.”  He was honored with an ACTA last year for Best Technical Achievement  for his musical direction of “Aida.”  He has done vocal preparation, orchestrations, and musical direction for several ACTS productions including “Nunsense,” “Annie,” “Annie Warbucks,” “Cabaret,” “The Sound of Music,” “Scrooge,” “South Pacific,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” and “Swing!,” among others.  In addition to his work in the theater, he also has served as a church musician in many parishes in the Diocese of Lake Charles including St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss and St. Margaret, St. Henry, and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Lake Charles.  Next year he will begin his twenty-­fifth year as the music director of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, where he is now the longest serving music director in the 147 year history of the parish.  He holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from McNeese State University and a Master's Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans. He currently teaches music in Cameron Parish at Grand Lake and South Cameron schools.
