Welcome to Aspire Performing Arts Company's production of 13!
More than a decade ago, when I first started Aspire PAC, we chose the musical 13 as our first Senior Performing Ensemble production in the summer of 2011. All I knew about the show at the time was that it had been on Broadway and I received a copy of the soundtrack from a friend. When I popped it into my CD player (yes, a CD!) and the first song started, I knew I was hooked and had to produce this show. The music was infectious, and the feeling of being at that point in your youth where there is so much hope and excitement, but also so much anxiety and uncertainty, resonated through the speakers.
My first 13 cast absolutely loved performing this show, and for many, it became a pivotal point in their performing careers. Our lead says that the experience of performing in our production of 13 was what made him want to become a professional actor, and 11 years later - he is!
I am thrilled to be able to direct this show with a new generation of students and performers. The process has been quick - only six weeks - but they have risen to the challenge and taken on this show with confidence, talent, and humor. I am so proud of what they have accomplished, and know you will enjoy every minute.
