  Director's Note

Our theatre and arts programs at ACA serve several purposes. First, they provide students with a creative outlet to develop talents and express themselves in a positive, supportive environment. Second, the arts can be used as a tool for teaching moral lessons and conveying Christian values through storytelling and character development. Additionally, these programs often foster a sense of community and teamwork among students, encouraging collaboration and empathy. Lastly, theatre allows students to explore and appreciate the arts within the framework of their faith, promoting a holistic approach to education that integrates spiritual and artistic growth.

Mary Poppins often brings about transformation in the lives of the Banks family. This could be likened to biblical themes of redemption and renewal, where characters experience personal growth and change through Mary's guidance. Mary could be seen as embodying certain teachings attributed to Jesus, such as compassion, kindness, and wisdom. Her interactions with others mirror the values of empathy and understanding.

Mary Poppins demonstrates selflessness and service, akin to biblical principles of sacrificial love. This can be tied to the idea of serving others with humility and grace. The importance of family and community is a central theme in both the Bible and Mary Poppins. The Banks family learns to appreciate and support each other, reflecting biblical ideals of love and unity.

You know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. (James 1:3-4)
