As a kid, Sister Act was one of those movies my sister and I rented over and over again from the video store (remember those?). I had no idea how deeply that joyful, hilarious, feel-good story would embed itself in my heart. It was pure magic then, and it still is now. There’s something about this show that feels like comfort food for the soul: big laughs, big voices, and even bigger heart. In a world that feels increasingly heavy, I think we could all use a little more of that.
Directing this production has been a joy from day one. Our cast is a glorious mix of seasoned performers and first-timers, and what they share is a beautiful commitment to each other and to this story. Watching them grow in confidence, take creative risks, and find their rhythm as an ensemble has been nothing short of inspiring. They’ve reminded me, every single day, why I love theater.
To my incredible tech crew and creative team: thank you. You’ve built a world that sparkles—literally and figuratively. The magic onstage only happens because of the magic behind the scenes, and I’m so grateful for every light cue, quick change, and small miracle you’ve pulled off along the way.
And to Lisa Holcomb and the Bastrop Opera House—thank you for giving me my first directing opportunity with Steel Magnolias in 2023. This place holds a special piece of my heart. I met my husband here, my son is thriving in the Youth Performing Arts Academy, and my sister, niece, and nephew also perform here. It’s more than a theater—it’s a community, a family, and a home.
We hope this show brings you laughter, joy, and a renewed sense of connection. That’s the real miracle of Sister Act—it reminds us that even the most unlikely people can become a family, and even the most unexpected paths can lead to something divine.
Enjoy the show.
