A Note from the Director
Having never had the chance to be in Hello, Dolly! myself, when the opportunity to direct this show came up, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. This show is actually a show that's been in the making for about two years. Not being able to do it when we wanted to or where we wanted to put a wrench in our plans. Finally, the right time and the right cast came along, and Dolly was on her way to the stage. 2 years of planning and dreaming about the right way to present the show was actually happening...and I couldn't have asked for more.
Like Dolly Levi, I feel I have met my match with this show in regards to my production staff, and by that I mean I have the PERFECT match. This show wouldn't be anywhere near as good as it is if it weren't for the vocal direction from Alex Cheney and the impecable choreography by Ashley Oblad. Working with the two of you is a joy and a privelege. Not only do your direction and talents shine in everything you've done for the show, but you have no idea what you have taught me through this process. I've actually learned how NOT to micromanage...and that's saying something. I dedicate this show to the two of you, my Perfect Pair. Thank you for all you do.
To the cast of Hello, Dolly! What can I say? I am constantly in awe of what new works you are able to bring to the stage. Every one of you have worked so hard. All the blood (oh yes, there were many blisters from all the choreography), sweat (ummm...I'll chalk that one up to choreography as well), and tears (good ones...only good ones) that you have all put into this show is astounding. I am the luckiest director to be able to work with all of you. I always think, how are they gonna top that last show...and then a show like Dolly happens and I am once again reminded of just how talented you all are. Everyone of you posses something special that you bring to the stage, and when all those things are mixed together and put into one show...you create magic. Congratulations on a fabulous show! I love you all, and I couldn't be prouder.
